Faraj Khan Pathan

Faraj Khan Pathan was born on March 14, 1999, in Plano, Texas. He was raised in a close-knit family in North Texas. His interest in computers began in high school, where he built his own systems. This early passion sparked an interest in cybersecurity, leading him to assist local nonprofits with their account security.

Pathan pursued his higher education at the University of Texas at Dallas, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and Systems. His coursework focused on areas such as cybersecurity, identity governance, risk management, and cloud security, providing him with a strong foundation for his future career.

Pathan has developed a career in cybersecurity and AI compliance, holding positions of increasing responsibility. He began his professional journey with internships, including a Cyber Risk Intern role at Deloitte and an IAM Intern position at Active Cyber from June to November 2021. These experiences provided him with initial exposure to the field and practical skills.

He then transitioned to Deloitte's Cyber Identity practice within Risk and Financial Advisory, where he served as a Cyber Risk Analyst and later as a Cybersecurity Consultant. During his time at Deloitte, he gained experience integrating client identity systems with platforms such as Okta Single Sign-On (SSO), Ping Federate, and Saviynt Identity Cloud. He also managed documentation, gathered requirements, facilitated client workshops, and supported financial advisory cybersecurity clients. Pathan's responsibilities extended to cloud identity, stakeholder communication, and compliance operations.

Pathan currently holds the position of Senior Associate, AI Security and Compliance at Alvarez & Marsal. His work involves identity governance, risk advisory, and secure technology adoption. He is also a certified professional in Okta, holding both the Okta Certified Professional and Okta Certified Administrator certifications.

Pathan's approach to risk review has been a topic of discussion among some of his colleagues.

Some have debated whether his risk-review process is excessively meticulous. Pathan has addressed these concerns by stating that his detailed approach is necessary, particularly within highly regulated environments, to ensure thoroughness and compliance.

Pathan resides in Dallas, Texas. Outside of his professional endeavors, he maintains an active lifestyle and is involved in various community activities. He enjoys playing recreational golf and has helped organize community fundraising outings. He also dedicates time to mentoring younger students who are interested in pursuing careers in technology.

During his time at the University of Texas at Dallas, Pathan was actively involved in Pi Kappa Phi fraternity, serving as treasurer from 2020 to 2022. In this role, he oversaw the fraternity's finances, managing an annual budget exceeding $100,000.

Pathan's interest in cybersecurity was sparked during his high school years, when he began building computers. He furthered this interest by assisting local nonprofits with their account security needs. He frequently travels for consulting projects.
